Play Your Cards Well

(view video below)

As Jawaharlal Nehru said, "Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is your own will."

How well are you playing your hand? I was somewhat of a card shark growing up. The great Muhammad Ali taught me card tricks while I spent time at his training camp with my family. My primary game was Gin Rummy. Each player gets ten cards. The first task is to review and sort them. Don't spend time lamenting your situation if it's not ideal. Simply play what's in front of you. On each hand, you draw a card and discard one. It's a process of deciding what you need and what you don't. Sometimes you are compelled to let go of a card you still want because you have to constantly make decisions on what is least useful and then commit to that choice. This is a great lesson for life. Get fully in the game and play your cards well. Accept your hand, and then seek to optimize it, Focus on the positive and always play fair. Trust your gut and let go of dead weight. Commit to your choice in that moment while remaining open to what's coming next. Understand that every move makes a difference and can change the Universal "sequence." Pay attention to potentialities and synchronicity. If you're distracted, you may miss an opportunity. The luck of the draw can set you up or set you back, but the way you play your hand is what really matters.

CENTERING THOUGHT

I am fully in the game.

YOUR CALL TO ACTION

Your call to action this week is to play your cards well. Ask yourself: How can I optimize my life right now? Do an assessment of the cards in your hand. What do you want to keep and what might you let go? This entire week, be creative and strategic with what is in front of you. In what ways can you get the most of your current circumstances using your innate talents and immediate resources? That's your practice this week. Let Nehru's words motivate you to action: “Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is your own will.” Let me know how it goes by commenting here. I'll check in at the end of the week to see how you did. Until next time, remember – it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!

With Purpose & Power,

Terri
