Speaking, Moderating & Teaching

Speaker / moderator around the world for hundreds of organizations and events related to wellness, empowerment, entrepreneurship and using arts as a means for cross-cultural understanding. Various audiences such as the World Economic Forum, Harvard Business School, MetLife, XYoga Dubai, Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia to moderating programs for Women's Entrepreneurship Day at the United Nations and the World Government Summit in Dubai.

Harvard Business School

Led a Mind PWR™ program at Harvard Business School on the Cambridge, MA campus.  Held at the Class of 1959 Chapel, the program was very well received by a wide range of leaders from various HBS alumnae classes.  People kept coming in until it was standing-room-only.  Mind PWR™ offers specialized breathing and meditation practices to modulate the nervous system for greater calm, clarity, focus, insight and mental sharpness. 

WEF Offices in Geneva

Led a Mind PWR™ program at the World Economic Forum corporate offices for the Young Global Leaders Alumni Summit in Geneva, Switzerland.  The program was reportedly one of the most popular sessions during the three-day event with a wide range of leaders including CEOs, entrepreneurs, executives, thought leaders, politicians, and artists.  Mind PWR™ offers specialized breathing and meditation practices to modulate the nervous system for greater calm, clarity, focus, insight and mental sharpness.  From alternate nostril breathing to candle gazing, participants walked away with a toolkit of practical techniques to proactively manage their energy.

 

BE's Health Is Wealth Summit

Led a guided meditation to set the tone for the day and later the session How To Leverage Mindfulness and Meditation For Maximum Wellness at the Black Enterprise Health Is Wealth Summit in Nashville, TN powered by Walmart. Participants were inspired by her personal story of transformation, learned  strategies for managing stress, and practiced breathing and mindfulness techniques for being present.  The new Power Living "Be Still and Know" T-shirt was also debuted at the event.

MetLife

Worked with MetLife over multiple years and events. Spoke at MetLife's Global Women's Leadership Forum at their headquarters in New York. Led webinars and created a series of customized videos on Mindfulness, Stress Management, Energy Management and Resilience for MetLife's Global Women's Initiative - Developing Women's Careers Experience (DWCE) Thrive@ Work Series. DWCE is a critical program to help AVP-level women leaders successfully navigate the unique professional challenges they face as they grow their career at MetLife.

XYoga Dubai

Taught yoga sessions for the XYoga Dubai Festival in the United Arab Emirates, including the Breathe & Burn® Vinyasa Yoga class and Blissful Vibrations® session which mixes movement, motivation, music and meditation. She also gave a talk and slide show about her mentor, yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch, who was 99 years old at the time. She was among a select group of internationally-recognized teachers invited including Yogi Cameron, Pierre Ravan, Dan Morgan, Sjha’ra Taylor, Candace Cabrera, Anjasmara Prasetya and Ajith Shankara. 

Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia

Spoke on the opening panel for the AmCham Business Breakfast as part of the Bled Strategic Forum – a leading conference in Central and South East Europe that provides high-level platform for discussion of pressing regional and global issues. There were 1,067 participants from 66 countries, including heads of state and government, ministers, diplomats, representatives of the business sphere, scholars and the media. She spoke about heart-centered leadership, as well as the importance of mindfulness, stress management and integrative health for an individual’s success. 

Dharma Yoga Center

Moderated a virtual program on Yoga & the Black Experience for the Dharma Yoga Center in New York.  It featured discussion with and poetic performances by (then) 86-year-old entrepreneur, actress and cultural pioneer Janie Sykes-Kennedy on the Black Experience.  Poets featured included Paul Laurence Dunbar, Langston Hughes, James Weldon Johnson and Dr. James Scott Kennedy.  Janie started practicing yoga in the early '70s and inspired her daughter to practice. Teresa founded the first yoga studio in Harlem in 2002 and was one of the first Blacks featured on the cover of Yoga Journal, as well as being the first Black Chair of the Board of Yoga Alliance.

Child Center of NY

Moderated a virtual Juneteenth program for the Child Center of NY featuring discussion with and poetic performances by (then) 86-year-old entrepreneur, actress and cultural pioneer Janie Sykes-Kennedy on the Black Experience.  Poets featured included Paul Laurence Dunbar, Langston Hughes, James Weldon Johnson and Dr. James Scott Kennedy.  Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is celebrated on the anniversary of the order, issued by Major General Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom for slaves in Texas.

Lead With Love in Aspen 

Shared in Opening Ceremony and moderated Conversation with a Master with (then) 99-year-old Tao Porchon-Lynch for the Lead With Love Conference in Aspen, Colorado. Assisted in yoga class Tao taught with the youngest certified yoga teacher, (then) 12-year-old Tabay Atkins.  Lead With Love is a transformational experience into the HEART of leadership, inspiring creatives, strategists, and visionaries to lead with compassion, kindness, intentionality and reciprocity in every aspect of their lives. Presenters included HH The Sakyong, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Rod Stryker, Marianne Williamson, Drs. Ron and Mary Hulnick, among others.  

World Government Summit in Dubai

Moderated a Conversation with a Master with (then) 98-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch for the World Government Summit  in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Terri also introduced Tao and set the stage for her to charge the audience as they went into a work session on the Sustainable Development Goals. The shift in energy was palatable. The Summit is a global knowledge exchange platform at the intersection of government, futurism, technology and innovation. It functions as a thought leadership and networking hub for policymakers, experts and pioneers in human development. The pre-cursor to the three-day Summit was the Global Dialogue for Happiness.

Yoga Day & Retreat in Bangalore

Assisted (then) 98-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch in International Day of Yoga at the Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium with 5,000 practictioners in Banaglore, India. Other notable yogis included Pilot Baba, Yogamata Keiko Aikawa, Jagadananda Das, and Amma V. Nanammal. Received an award for yoga leadership. Also, assisted Tao and demonstrated for multiple yoga classes at a multi-day yoga retreat at the Shangri-La Hotel. Trip was organized by SHWAASA, a philanthropic organization founded by Shwaasa Guru Sri Vachananand Swamiji. 

WED at the United Nations 

Moderated panel for the Women's Entrepreneurship Day at the United Nations. The panel included her mentor (then) 98-year-old Tao Porchon-Lynch (Yoga Master & Historical Icon), Joan Hornig (Founder of Joan Hornig Jewelry) and Rachel Cohen Gerrol (Co-Founder of Nexus Global Youth Summit, PVBLIC Foundation & The Survivor Initiative). Others who participated that day included Mindy Grossman (CEO of HSN), Kay Koplovitz (Founder of USA Networks), Sandra Lee (Philanthropist, Author & TV Personality), Randi Zuckerberg (Founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media), among others.

Yoga Day at United Nations

Moderated program with (then) 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch for the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations. Max Kennedy, author and son of Robert F. Kennedy, moderated a conversation with spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, and then Tao and Sadhguru joined each other on stage for a conversation. The topic was “Yoga for the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”–how the different physical and mental aspects of yoga can help create a more equitable and harmonious world. The audience included senior UN officials, ambassadors and other dignitaries from various countries.

Sagicor Event in Jamaica

Keynote speaker for the Sagicor Motivational Seminar at the Iberostar Suites in Rose Hall/Montego Bay, Jamaica. The theme was “Limitless: One Team One Goal.” Sagicor, one of the largest financial institutions on the island, has been hosting this three-day event for their employees for over 30 years. In addition to sharing inspiration and the Power Living framework, she led the 400 participants in hands-on energy management techniques they could use right away to make a difference in their lives and later spent time with the company's employees and key clients.

 

Seminario de Salud in Chile

Keynote speaker for Seminario de Salud, Mujer y calidad de Vida in Santiago, Chile energizing and inspiring over 800 women to live healthier lives. Her topic was “Power Living: Think, Eat & Live on Purpose.” There was simultaneous translation and she delivered part of the program call and response in Spanish. The event, which was presented by El Mercurio (the largest newspaper in Chile), the magazine Ya, Clinica Las Condes and Estee Lauder Companies, was sold out with no more seats left. It was part of Estee Lauder's Global Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.  While in Santiago, she also met the First Lady to discuss health programs in the country and convened with a group of Chilean business women.

World Economic Forum in Davos

Discussion Leader for the "Economics of Happiness" during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, SwitzerlandThe organizing theme for this 40th Annual Meeting was a call to action, “Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign and Rebuild”.  Also, co-presented “The Wellness Factor” to fellow Young Global Leaders and did an interview with Edie Lush for Hub Culture. The Davos Annual Meeting included many notables such as President Bill Clinton, King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Lee Myung-Bak of the Republic of Korea and Bill and Melinda Gates.

Brand Representation & Campaigns

Face of South Harlem Campaign

Featured in advertising campaign promoting a new real estate development in South Harlem (SoHa) and showcasing healthy living in the neighborhood as the founder of the Ta Yoga House, the first yoga studio in Harlem. 

Athleta Power of She Campaign

Featured in the Athleta Power of She campaign with 98-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Tao graced the cover of the Athleta catalog and they were both featured in the magazine, online, in stores and in store windows across the U.S. The Power of She is a movement inviting women and girls to lift each other up, and together, realize their limitless potential. Their book, Shining Bright: Quotes and Images to Inspire Optimism, Gratitude & Belief In Your Limitless Potential, was also sold in Athleta stores across the country as part of a Gratitude Campaign.

 

American Heart Association

Volunteer since 2007. Asked to be a National Spokesperson offering media commentary for Search Your Heart and Power To End Stroke campaigns. Trained leaders to deliver messages in culturally relevant ways. Recruited volunteer ambassadors and facilitated strategic alliances with other associations. Reached thousands through workshops and keynote talks incorporating messages on health, nutrition and physical activity. Organized and hosted first Power NYC Health & Empowerment Symposium at Columbia University. Lent voice and expertise to multiple segments of The Daily Dose for WBLS 107.5 FM. Featured in Healthy Soul Food cookbook. Served on multiple local, national and international committees.

HealthCorps Ambassador

Ambassador and speaker for educational events including moderating a program for FitTown USA. Acted as Red Carpet Host for annual fundraising gala. Interviewed notables such as music genius Quincy Jones, fashion designer Donna Karan, singer/actor LL Cool J, music mogul Russell Simmons, Broadway star Ben Vereen, Chef Rocco DiSpirito, Governor David Paterson, Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz. The event, co-hosted by Dr. Oz and Lisa Oz, raised over $1 million to expand HealthCorps' in-school health educational and mentoring program and was held at the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center in New York.
