Chunky Applesauce is rich in antioxidants and dietary fiber. As they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Apples area staple if you want to eat in season for Fall. One of my favorite ways to use apples is to make this quick and easy applesauce. Eat it alone or put it on top of pancakes or biscuits for a delicious snack or dessert.
You can make applesauce out of any kind of apple. For the best flavor, use a mix of different kinds. If you like sweet, then opt for Fuji, Cortland or Golden Delicious. For tart with a touch of sweetness, then choose McIntosh. If you prefer crispy, then Rome can work. The cooking time may vary depending on the variety; the softer varieties (like McIntosh and Fuji) will cook faster. Here is a very simple recipe.
