Consciousness Is All There Is: How Understanding and Experiencing Consciousness Will Transform Your Life

by Dr. Tony Nader

Dr. Tony Nader, a renowned Vedic scholar and neuroscientist, puts forth a radical new paradigm for understanding consciousness and finding enlightenment, peace, and fulfillment.

His grand proposal is:

There is one unified field of Consciousness that is completely nonphysical and nonmaterial. It is beyond time and space and therefore has no beginning or end. Beginnings and endings mean something in the physical world but have no meaning outside of it. Consciousness is not a thing. It is nothing material. Yet it is everything. Consciousness is all there is.

During Dr. Nader’s extensive medical studies and research in becoming a neuroscientist, consciousness was never a topic of study. He learned about waking, dreaming, and sleeping as well as various altered states of consciousness, such as vegetative states and coma. The questions of what consciousness is, where it comes from, and how it relates to the physical were left to philosophy, and to some extent, psychology and psychoanalytic research. It was not until he started to practice Transcendental Meditation and met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi that he began to understand the full relevance of consciousness.

All that we plan, think, feel, and experience happens within our consciousness. However, there is still not scientific agreement on what consciousness truly is and where it comes from. The orthodox view among many philosophers and neuroscientists is that consciousness, as a subjective, mental phenomenon, originates from a physical source. Our minds and everything that happens “within” them (including thoughts, feelings, and perceptions) must be solely the product of electrical, biochemical, and quantum-mechanical activity in the brain and nervous system. Dr. Nader is turning the conventional view around by proposing that Consciousness IS the fundamental reality.

Nader believes that the ancient Vedic tradition from which Maharishi came provides “a comprehensive theory for understanding the nature of consciousness, along with practical technologies for various applications.” If you are not a nerd like me (who loves to explore the brain), then why does all of this matter on a practical level? As Dr. Nader explains,

With a higher level of consciousness, we are aware of more, understand more, and are less bound by past patterns of thinking and behavior. We have greater freedom of choice and action because we see more possibilities.

The book lays out a direct path to peace for ourselves and our world that anyone can obtain. If you are interested in flourishing and a deep level of peace, delve into this book. As you connect with pure consciousness, you will find a happier and higher state of being.
