Improve flexibility, calm your mind, and establish your home yoga practice.
In this course, learn a meditative Gentle Yoga sequence including an extended warm up, simple standing postures and stretches, the foundation Sun Salutation, and basic variations of key postures such as Shoulder Stand, forward bends, back bending and spinal twist. The physical posture practice (Asana) tones and invigorates the body and mind, leading to enhanced flexibility, strength, balance and concentration. This sequence feels like a total body massage - opening your shoulders, strengthening your back and easing tension in your muscles. The class includes a simple breathing exercise (pranayama) and accessible meditative technique to regulate the heartbeat, de-stress the nervous system and calm the mind. At the end of each class, enjoy an extended deep healing relaxation, which relieves stress, slows down the thoughts, and recharges one’s physical body. It is a complete practice that will lead to radiant health, a peaceful life and, eventually self-realization.
Over six weeks together, Teresa Kay-Aba Kennedy will break down the poses step-by-step and offer a range of options to accommodate various body types, conditions and capacity. If you often do high intensity workouts, this is a great balance to calm the nervous system. It is suitable for ALL levels whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner seeking to get back to the essentials with a restorative practice. Understanding the core elements of each pose helps deepen the practice and prevent injuries. The course provides a strong foundation to prepare you to join further yoga classes and courses.
